I took another couple days off with my NHL picks after another rough night on Saturday. I’ll always have my picks up on the big slate nights of Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, but on the smaller slate nights I’ll only have my picks posts up when I have time to write them.

Tampa Bay Lightning @ Toronto Maple Leafs
The Lightning are now 4-1-0 and I don’t see any signs of them slowing down. You could easily argue that this Lightning team has the best players on paper in the entire NHL, and that’s in stark contrast to the lineup that the Leafs are working with each night. The Lightning have so many high powered forwards that the scoring will come from somewhere tonight, especially against the Leafs team that’s given up 19 goals in 5 games.
I don’t often take road favourites, but an exception had to be made for this game.

Anaheim Ducks @ San Jose Sharks
The Ducks and Sharks are always in tight battles that could really go either way when they play. At this point in time the two teams are trending in opposite directions with the Sharks having lost a couple in a row, including a recent shutout in Detroit, while the Ducks have seemingly turned things around with a couple wins after starting the season with four losses. I really like this Ducks team, so I think at this price you have to take them in San Jose.

Columbus Blue Jackets @ LA Kings
I’ve been fading the Kings for the majority of the season and that’s not going to stop now just because they picked up a lucky 4-3 shootout win as massive favourites over the Canucks and an OT win over the Stars in their last couple games. This Kings team is still siginificantly overrated and I think they will have trouble with the depth of the Blue Jackets forward corps.
With scorers spread through the lineup including Boone Jenner currently slotted into the third line and Hartnell skating on the fourth, the scoring for the Jackets is very spread out. This is key against the Kings who are able to match up Doughty against opposition top lines, but with the scoring spread out the Jackets will definitely find themselves with some solid match ups throughout this game.
The Jackets are also on a two game winning streak, with a much more impressive shutout of the high powered Stars on the road and also a solid win against the ever dangerous Blackhawks.
