The 4 Nations Face-Off Hockey Tournament gets underway today in Montreal. This will be the first best-on-best (full NHL participation) international ice hockey tournament since the 2016 World Cup of Hockey, which was won by Canada.
The 4 Nations tournament is hosted by the NHL and will be replacing the NHL All-Star game this year. The first four round robin games will take place in Montreal, and then the tournament will move to Boston for the final two round robin games and the Finals. NHL players are confirmed to compete in the Winter Olympics in 2026, so we will be treated to two straight years of best-on-best international hockey after 8 years without.
