Free NHL Picks October 28th

I was absolutely shocked to see that the Wild gave up 5 goals to the Rangers in the third period last night. I had a hockey game of my own at 9:30, so when I headed onto the ice the Wild were safely up 3-0 after 2 and simply dominating the game (24-8 in shots). Then I come off the ice and see that the Wild collapsed and I lost my one play for the night. Not a great realization.

Tonight there are plenty of games for us to pick some winners though and get back on track.

Minnesota Wild @ Boston Bruins

The Wild self destructed last night, but the fact still remains this is one of the best teams in the league. I’m expecting a huge bounce back game tonight. After being embarrassed like that it’s often easy to get up for the next game and they are probably happy to get back on the ice and put that third period behind them tonight in Boston.

The Bruins are without Chara and have looked very average so far this season. I’m surprised that the Wild are such big dogs in this one.

Buffalo Sabres @ Toronto Maple Leafs

Sure, the Sabres beat the Sharks on Saturday, but that in no way means that this team is going to be competitive this season. They had odds of 4.35 against the Sharks, which is why I took a flyer on them, but they are just 2 to 1 underdogs against the Maple Leafs and even with the Leafs playing poorly of late I expect a Leafs win 3 out of 4 times tonight.

This is a great bounce back opportunity for the Leafs and I think they’ll capitalize. I’m actually going to take them by the puck line.

Montreal Canadiens @ Calgary Flames

The Habs weren’t able to solve Scrivens last night, but they can put that behind them tonight in Calgary. The Flames have had a decent start to the season, but I still think this is the worst team in the Western Conference. I expect the Canadiens to bounce back and find a way to beat Calgary tonight.
