Free NHL Picks March 5th

The Senators are tearing up the NHL right now. Some of you may know that I’m personally an Ottawa Senators fan, so I’m loving this recent 6-0-1 streak that has put them back in the hunt. It’s also nice that I put some money on them for a few of the games, including last nights battle in Winnipeg. Like all the games on this road trip, they were fairly big dogs coming in at 2.55, but they allowed us a nice hit that we can build on tonight.

St. Louis Blues @ Philadelphia Flyers

I was a little bit surprised the Blues weren’t bigger favourites in this game, but looking at the Flyers record they’ve been beating a lot of the top teams, while losing to weak opposition. I personally think that’s more coincidence than anything, which is why I will gladly take the Blues as just minor favourites in this one.

Dallas Stars @ Florida Panthers

The Stars squeaked out a win in overtime against the Islanders on Tuesday, but that doesn’t change the fact that they lost their previous six games and they’re simply not a very good team without Tyler Seguin in the lineup. The Panthers are in a fight for their playoff lives and they can’t afford to drop points to weak teams like the Dallas Stars, especially at home. Dan Ellis is in net for the Panthers, which is a little bit of a wild card, but I don’t look too much at the backup goaltender because they can often surprise us and stand on their heads when they get the opportunity.

Vancouver Canucks @ Arizona Coyotes

The Coyotes have now lost 10 in a row. I think that’s enough said. They haven’t even got a point in those 10 games. The Canucks only need to win this game 2 out of 3 times for a bet on the Canucks to be a positive expected value play. I see the Canucks winning this game more like 4 out of 5 times. This is a big favourite play, but one I’m comfortable with.
