There is a massive slate of games tonight in the NHL. There are 10 games on the schedule, with 20 NHL teams in action. This includes 6 of the 7 Canadian NHL teams, who are battling for playoff spots.
Here are my 3 favourite plays for tonight’s NHL games. I’m using the odds from whichever one of our recommended Canadian betting sites has the best odds for my pick.
Ottawa Senators @ New Jersey Devils
The Sens are finishing up their longest road trip of the season in New Jersey tonight after flying back from 3 games on the West Coast. They’ve managed to win their past couple games out in California with tight wins over the Kings and the Sharks. Bobby Ryan and Mika Zibanejad seem to have found some chemistry on the Sens second line and I think it’s only a matter of time before the top line of Turris, Stone and Hoffman finds that spark they had at the beginning of the season.
The Sens sit 1 point behind the Devils heading into this contest with 1 game in hand. So this is a huge game for both teams. I expect the Sens to dig deep and find a way to get this win and finish the road trip in style. They’ve had 3 days rest since playing in San Jose so the cross country trip shouldn’t be an issue.
Play: Senators 2.10
Philadelphia Flyers @ Pittsburgh Penguins
Surprisingly this is the first time the Flyers and Penguins have met this season. This is a very similar situation to the Sens vs Devils game in that the Flyers are one point back of the Pens with a game in hand. The Flyers and Penguins don’t like each other and neither do their stars with Crosby and Giroux having some heated battles over the years. In rivalry games, especially the first couple of the year between two teams, I like to throw out the odds because the games tend to go either way.
I’m expecting a gritty and possibly high scoring affair with both teams taking this game very seriously. With odds of 2.60 I’ll take the underdog in these rivalry games every time.
Look for the top line of Voracek, Giroux and Simmonds to have a big game tonight.

Nashville Predators @ Winnipeg Jets
It’s time to start panicking in both Nashville and Winnipeg. The Preds have only won 2 of their last 10 games and find themselves on the outside of the playoffs looking in. The Jets have also not been playing up to par and sit 6 points out of the last wild card spot.
Pekka Rinne has been very bad the last little while. He’s lost his last 5 starts and has given up 18 goals over this span, while not posting a .900+ save percentage in any of these games.
I’m looking at the recently put back to together top line of the Jets to come up with a big game in this spot.
