There are quite a few games on tap for a Monday night this evening in the NHL, so I’m confident that we can find a few winners to help head into the Christmas break on a winning note.
NHL Season Record: 54-66 for -1.70 units.
Ottawa Senators @ Washington Capitals
The Sens have actually been playing fairly well of late and getting Craig Anderson back between the pipes will give them a very good chance to win tonight in Washington. Yes, the Caps have been playing fairly well of late, but they still only have a 6-5-4 record at home this year and their recent wins haven’t been over top end teams.
At the odds being given I think the Sens are a great underdog play this evening.

Pittsburgh Penguins @ Florida Panthers
With a now fairly healthy lineup the Penguins are back to being one of the best teams in the NHL. They’ve won 3 straight and they’re still playing great defence, which has been winning them games, while Crosby has been out or ineffective. Crosby will find his scoring touch soon and that combined with Malkin firing right now this Penguins team should continue to get wins. This game is the second of a home and home with the Panthers, with the Pens winning the game on Saturday 3-1 in Pittsburgh.

Calgary Flames @ LA Kings
The Flames have now lost 8 straight games after falling in overtime to the Canucks on Saturday. That said, they are still sitting just one spot out of the last wild card position in the West, which is currently held by the Kings. That makes this still a very big game for both teams and one reason I don’t see the Kings faltering.
LA has been great at home this season with a 13-4-1 record and when they are on their game they are still arguably the best team in the league. I expect a win for the Kings tonight as they head into the break.
