FIFA World Cup Betting Picks for June 16th

We’re heading into Day 3 of the World Cup!  I added my Day 2 picks, but I’m writing this piece before those matches have taken place, so I’m not able to show my record as of yet, but that will come in future articles.

I’ve used the best odds available from any of our top rated betting sites for my plays.  The odds were correct at the time of this article, but they are subject to change leading up to the match, so be sure to check and compare the odds yourself.

France vs Australia

  • France 1.25
  • Draw 8.23
  • Australia 12.00

France really should win this game rather easily.  They are on an absolutely different level than Australia and they are one of my picks (along with Belgium) to win the World Cup this year.  We saw what happened with Saudi Arabia being completely outclassed in their 5-0 loss to Russia, and Australia actually finished behind Saudi Arabia (tied, but behind on goal differential) in AFC qualifying.  I’m expecting to fade the Asian teams quite a bit this year, and this is an easy place to start.

Play: France 1.25

Argentina vs Iceland

  • Argentina 1.33
  • Draw 5.97
  • Iceland 11.00

I’m a believer in this Iceland team.  It’s no coincidence they advanced to the quarterfinals at Euro 2016, and followed that performance by winning their group in UEFA qualifying for this World Cup.  Iceland is a really solid group that can play at both sides of the field.  I expect them to surprise some people right out of the gate by securing a draw against Argentina, who are a team I’m not really expecting much from this year.

Peru vs Denmark

  • Peru 3.30
  • Draw 3.25
  • Denmark 2.40

Peru has not been at the World Cup since 1982 and this absence may cause them to be overlooked in this tournament, but let’s not forget that this Peru squad qualifed out of South America, where every team that is sent to the World Cup is a contender.  Denmark is a solid squad and they will be a stiff test, but Denmark really didn’t perform too well in qualifying finishing 2nd to Poland in a fairly weak group and then needing a complete collapse by Republic of Ireland to advance from the second round.

Don’t get me wrong, this Denmark team is still very talented and has the ability to go far, but I think at these odds the sharp money is on Peru to get a result.

Play: Peru 3.30

Croatia vs Nigeria

  • Croatia 1.74
  • Draw 3.92
  • Nigeria 5.59

Croatia finished second to Iceland in their UEFA qualifying group and then got a nice draw against Greece to qualify for the World Cup.  I’m really not expecting much from Croatia this year.

I don’t expect much out of Nigeria either, but African countries often surprise at the World Cup and earn some solid results.  I think it is more likely that this match ends in a draw than a Nigerian win, so I’m going with another draw in this one.

Play: Draw 3.92 @ SportsInteraction.com

Again, these odds can change leading up to the matches, so be sure to check and compare the odds for each match yourself before placing your bets.
