I made three picks last week, and finished the week .500. The Bombers did not perform against the Ti-Cats like I expected, but the Roughriders did exactly what they were supposed to and destroyed the Argos in Toronto. In the final game of the weekend I took Montreal +2, which ended up being a push.
I’m now 24-18-2 with my CFL plays this season. I will be using the odds from SportsInteraction.com for my pick again this week. They are our top rated betting site for Canadians and they are actually partnered with several CFL teams this season. Check out our full SIA review here.
Edmonton Eskimos @ Hamilton Tiger-Cats
- Edmonton +6.5
- Hamilton -6.5
The Eskies pulled out a win in Ottawa last week, but it was actually a pretty close game, which is not what you want if your an Edmonton fan against a Redblacks team that is in complete shambles.
I’ve been fading the Eskimos all season long and that isn’t about to change this week. Edmonton is heading to Hamilton to face a Ti-Cats team that just lit up the Blue Bombers in Winnipeg. The Ti-Cats are for real, and their offense can put up big points against anyone. The Ti-Cats are 6-0 at home, and I don’t think they will have any trouble making it 7-0 against a below average Eskimos team.
Play: Ti-Cats -6.5
Calgary Stampeders @ Montreal Alouettes
- Calgary -2.5
- Montreal +2.5
The Stampeders are coming off a bye week and I expect them to start to put the pedal to the metal gunning for the top spot in the West Division and the bye week in the first round of the CFL playoffs. This is still a championship caliber Stampeders team and I would back them against anyone in the league right now, other than perhaps the Ti-Cats.
The Alouettes have looked decent this year, and they will be in the playoffs, but let’s not forget that even with the vast improvement over last year, this is still just an average team in the CFL this year.
I like the Stampeders to come into Montreal this week and show they there are still levels in the CFL, and Montreal is not an elite team like the Stamps.
Play: Stampeders -2.5
Winnipeg Blue Bombers @ Saskatchewan Roughriders
- Winnipeg +5.5
- Saskatchewan -5.5
The Blue Bombers have struggled since coming out of their week 14 bye, but I do still think this is a very solid team that beat the Roughriders by 25 points in Winnipeg, just four weeks back.
The Roughriders do actually have the better record at this point in the season, but I still have the Blue Bombers ahead of them on my power rankings. With this game in Saskatchewan, I’d have it as a pick’em, so based on the odds I see significant value in taking the Bombers plus the points.
Play: Blue Bombers +5.5
Toronto Argonauts @ BC Lions
- Toronto +9
- BC -9
The Lions have won 3 in a row, and now they are almost double digit favourites. Let’s not forget that the first two of those wins were over the awful Redblacks, and last weeks win was a tight 2 point W over the Alouettes at home. Yes, Toronto only has 2 wins on the season, but the Lions only had 1 win just 3 weeks ago.
Give me the Argos plus the points in this game. Toronto has actually looked a little bit better over the past couple months and I think they could make this a competitive game with the Lions.
Even with the 3 game winning streak, the Lions are still a weak team that shouldn’t be 9 point favourites against anyone other than Ottawa at this point in the season.
Play: Argonauts +9
