The US Open is heading back to Torrey Pines this year, which is a course that held the US Open back in 2008. Tiger Woods won the tournament in a playoff on that occasion. The length of the South Course for 2021 is similar to that of 2008, with a distance of 7,685 yards that will make for a long, difficult setup. Keeping your ball in the fairway and hitting to the safe spots on the greens will once again be key this year.
Jon Rahm, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy are the six favourites this week with 20-1 or better odds. Jon Rahm is the favorite at odds of around 10-1 after leading at The Memorial Tournament a couple weeks back, before having to withdraw heading into Sunday.

Dustin Johnson 16/1
Dustin Johnson has a game built for winning US Opens. He won back in 2016 and has finished top 5 on four occasions. He played well at the Palmetto Championship last week and if he has his A-game he will be tough to beat at Torrey Pines. He is my one pick to win the tournament this week.
Collin Morikawa 22/1
Morikawa showed he has the game to win majors when he won the 2020 PGA Championship at TPC Harding Park. Morikawa also made it into a playoff at the Memorial a couple weeks ago, losing to Cantlay, but the solid tournament shows he is on top of his game at the moment.
Morikawa has been playing terrific golf all year and should be considered a favourite this week. At 22-1 I’ll gladly take a player who limits mistakes, is playing great, and has proven the ability to step his game up at a major championship.
Patrick Cantlay 25/1
Cantlay is the type of player who I think has a great chance at winning a US Open. He’s a very deliberate golfer that works his way around a course, which should help him at Torrey Pines.
Cantlay is coming off a win at the Memorial Tournament a couple weeks ago, so his game is right where it needs to be after struggling a little bit from March to May.
I’m happy to take Cantlay at 25-1 coming off a win.
Gary Woodland 100/1
Gary Woodland won the US Open in 2019 and his skillset makes him one of the players with a shot this week at Torrey Pines. He has the length to deal with the South Course, and if he can get his short game working like he did a couple years ago he could be in contention again. He had a rough outing at the Memorial Tournament two weeks back, but he’s been playing solid golf for most of the year. At 100/1, I think he’s definitely worth a shot.
