Hamilton often gets lumped in with Toronto, but it’s a hard working town that has it’s own sports culture. Yes, Hamilton residents can drive the hour into Toronto to watch the Maple Leafs, Blue Jays, Raptors or Toronto FC in the big North American professional leagues, but it’s the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the ability to have their own team and identity that seems to really get Hamilton sports fans fired up.
The hour up to Toronto or the hour down to Buffalo means that Hamilton sports fans are treated to every top sports league in North America with only a short drive. It’s really a great place to live if you’re a sports fan. The sports betting culture has continued to grow in Hamilton and with sports betting now legalized and regulated in Ontario, I’m expecting sports betting to continue to go more main stream in the city in the coming years.

These are our three recommended betting sites for Hamilton residents. All three of the above sites are licensed by iGaming Ontario to operate in the regulated Ontario sports betting market.
SportsInteraction.com is our top rated site. They are entirely focused on the Canadian market and this shows through in their betting platform, deposit/withdrawal options, bet offerings and customer service. Check out our SIA review here.
Offline Sports Betting in Hamilton
Offline sports betting is available in Hamilton through Proline. If you’ve check out our OLG page then you will know how I feel about Proline betting. The odds are significantly worse than any of the online betting sites listed above.
My main tip to Ontario sports bettors is to make the jump from Proline to betting through one of the top Ontario licensed betting sites I’ve listed above. If you’re a winning bettor you will see your winnings grow and if you’re a losing better you might even realize you’re actually a break even or winning bettor with the better odds.
Land Based Casino Sportsbooks Near Hamilton
There are no land based casinos (outside of just slot machines) located in the Hamilton area. The closest brick and mortar casino for Hamilton residents would be the Fallsview Casino, which is still an hour drive down the Queensway.
The Fallsview Casino has added a sportsbook with their new Overtime Sports Lounge. There are 21 sports betting kiosks available, as well as a few bet windows where you can place wagers. The sportsbook is open from 11:30am to 1am Mondays to Thursdays, and 9:30am to 1am Fridays to Sundays.
Flamboro Downs
Hamilton does feature a racetrack with Flamboro Downs located just to the north-west of the city. Flamboro Downs features live harness racing every Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday during the spring, summer and fall months, and Tuesday and Saturday in the winter. You are able to place bets on the horses directly at the track. This includes simulcast betting on all of the top racetracks from across North America.
***I should note that Flamboro Downs only accepts wagers on horse races. You will not be able to place sports wagers at the track.
For anyone looking for a more polished horse racing experience, Woodbine Racetrack is only a 45 minute drive north of the city.
