Last weeks plays went 3-1 with the only loss coming by taking the Stampeders to cover the 11.5 point spread and having them only win by 9 points. My season record is now 11-7 and I will look to add at least another unit profit from this 3 game week.
I will be using the odds from SportsInteraction.com for my CFL picks throughout the season. They are our top rated sportsbook for Canadians. Check out our full SIA review here.
I’ve also added a 3 step tutorial explaining how to bet on the CFL, so check that page out if you want to get some action on these games this week.
Edmonton Eskimos @ BC Lions
- Edmonton -3.5
- BC +3.5
The Eskimos were able to pull out another win last week, beating the Roughriders in Edmonton, but once again it wasn’t an overly convincing victory. The Eskies are now 5-2 on the season, but I’m still not convinced that this team is anything more than an average West Division team and I will likely continue to fade them against the spread until proven otherwise.
The Lions played a solid game at home, but were simply outclassed by the Calgary Stampeders who are a cut above all the other teams in the CFL. I think the Lions could bring some confidence from that game and find a way to get a win in another home game, but this time against a much weaker Eskies team.
Play: Lions +3.5
Hamilton Tiger-Cats @ Winnipeg Blue Bombers
- Hamilton +5
- Winnipeg -5
Hamilton looked great against the lowly Alouettes last week, but let’s not forget that was Johnny Manziel’s first game in the CFL, and it was against a defense that knew him extremely well. Hamilton has shown the ability to put up big points against weak teams this year, but then fail in other spots against quality teams.
The Bombers are coming off a bye week and have shown the ability to put up big points against East Division teams this season. I expect the Bombers to come out of their bye week ready to avenge their week 3 loss in Hamilton. The Bombers should be able to put up 25+ in this game, which should be enough to cover this 5 point spread.
Play: Blue Bombers -5
Montreal Alouettes @ Ottawa Redblacks
- Montreal +13.5
- Ottawa -13.5
Like I said above, Johnny Manziel was playing his first CFL game against a defense that knew him well last week. He had a bad game, but he did show some glimpses of his ability and I think another week to get on the same page as his fellow offensive players should allow this offense to be better than it has to this point in the season.
That said, the Alouettes defense is awful and Ottawa should be able to put up big points of their own at home. Ottawa should score around 30 in this game, so I will like Montreal to cover the spread if I think they can score 20+ points. I do think Manziel will put together some impressive drives this week and help Montreal find the Redblacks end zone enough times to keep this game within two touchdowns.
Play: Alouettes +13.5
