We’re back on a normal schedule this week, which means plenty of Tuesday night action in the NHL. Tonight there are 12 games on the slate, which means there are plenty of opportunities to find NHL betting value this evening.

Dallas Stars @ Detroit Red Wings
Yes, the Stars on playing their second game of a back to back after losing a tough OT game in St. Louis last night, but they are also back fully healthy with all of their big guns up front in Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin, Jason Spezza and Patrick Sharp in the lineup tonight. Add in Julius Honka on the back end, who has been solid since his call up and on paper this Stars team looks solid like they were last year.
Detroit is only 5-6-1 on the road this season and I just don’t consider these Red Wings a top quality team. Even on a back to back, on the road, I still consider the Stars the favourite in this game.

Florida Panthers @ Chicago Blackhawks
The Panthers just shook up their team with the firing of coach Gerard Gallant after this loss in Carolina. They’re now heading to Chicago to face the top team in the West.
It’s a tough ask for the Panthers in this one, but you’ll often see teams come out with a huge effort in games following a coach firing and I expect the same out of a talented Panthers team this evening. The players will be eager to show the new coach/GM their A-game in this one, which should result in a win or two before the team is forced to learn new strategies, which could stifle them at this point in the season.

Minnesota Wild @ Vancouver Canucks
You could argue the Canucks are the worst team in the NHL, but that doesn’t mean there are still solid opportunities to bet them as big underdogs. Let’s not forget that they’ve still managed to win 9 out of 22 games this season and the unpredictability of the NHL allows any team to win on a given night, so it’s still advantageous to find good spots to bet on teams the public doesn’t like.
The Canucks at home against the Wild tonight is one of these spots. Vancouver has actually won 3 of their last 5 games with the losses in OT to Chicago at home and to the Stars on the road. They’ve been winning basically every other game, but I’m looking for that trend to end tonight with the Canucks winning a second in a row after a shootout victory over the Avs in a shootout on the weekend.
The Wild have struggled on the road this season, going 4-4-3 away from home. If Ryan Miller gets the call in net tonight for the Canucks, I give them around a 50% chance to win this game, which is enough to bet on them at these odds.
Play: Canucks 2.40
