Hey guys, it’s been a while. I’m back from my 10 day Christmas vacation to Texas and I’m ready to back into the swing of things and have an awesome 2015. While in Texas I was lucky enough to catch the Spurs vs Wizards game and I have to say Cory Joseph is a talent. He stole the show in that game and outplayed John Wall on the way to a win with Tony Parker out with injury. The Canadian basketball program is doing something right and I’m predicting some very positive results for our National Team in the next decade.
But back to hockey. A full slate of games to choose from tonight, but I’m going to be selective as I’m getting back into things after my break.
NHL Season Record: 55-70 for -4.55 units.
Ottawa Senators @ Philadelphia Flyers
Claude Giroux is a game time decision for the Flyers and if he doesn’t play I see the Sens being the favourites in this game. The Giroux/Voracek tandem accounts for a huge chunk of the Flyers offense and without Giroux the team is much worse. Craig Anderson is back in net for the Sens tonight, which also helps their case. This is the first of a week long 4 game road trip for the Sens and I expect them to be ready to get off to a good start against a fairly weak opponent.

Buffalo Sabres @ New Jersey Devils
The Sabres have gone back to allowing bunches of goals against and have completely forgotten the style that made them successful for a small stretch of time in November and December. They have now lost 4 in a row by a combined score of 18-4. They’ve only got one win in their last 9 games and that was a shootout victory. I’m taking the Devils in this one. They have Elias and Havlat back in the lineup, which gives them a few more options up front when it comes to putting the puck in the net. I expect Jagr to build off his hat trick the other night and the Devils to follow suit with a decisive win over the Sabres.
Play: Devils -1.5 2.45 @ 5Dimes.eu
Those are my only two plays for this evening. I’m looking to go 2 for 2 and start the year off right.
