I took yesterday’s single game off, but had a big 5 picks on Saturday, of which I only hit 1, but luckily it was the Sabres at odds of 3.70, which lessened the blow somewhat. Today I’ll try to get back in the black for the year.

Florida Panthers @ Columbus Blue Jackets
I watched the Senators vs Panthers game on Friday night and you really got to see just how dangerous this Florida team can be. They keep pushing with high energy and in that game they really controlled the play. Tonight they head to Columbus to take on a Blue Jackets team that has now taken the lead in the McDavid sweepstakes by being truly awful this season. Columbus has lost their last 6 games and have only won 2 of their last 17 outings. It’s truly embarrassing that they’ve now dropped down below the Sabres and the Oilers in the standings. I don’t expect them to turn things around tonight against the Panthers.

Arizona Coyotes @ Edmonton Oilers
I just don’t believe in the Oilers at all this season. They’ve proven that they’ve once again failed to take a step forward with their young stars still being asked to do too much on a team that lacks any kind of depth. They did take a couple strong teams to overtime in their last two games (Predators & Blues), but they’ve lost 9 in a row now and it’s hard to snap out of that kind of a losing streak.
That said the Oilers are still very small favourites in this game because they’re playing another struggling team in the Arizona Coyotes. The Coyotes have lost 3 in a row, but I still think they’re the better all around team heading into this game. The Coyotes have a little better depth and a much better understanding of the defensive side of the game than the Oilers do. I like the Coyotes to win this one and push the Oilers losing streak to 10 games.
