Player props have become very popular in recent years and season long player props can be a lot of fun if you want to follow a specific player throughout the season, or if you believe a player is being over or under estimated.

Total Goals by Auston Matthews
Here is how the odds look for these Total Goals props at Sports Interaction:
Matthews scored 69 goals last season, so this seems like a significant drop where there may be value on the over. That said you have to also factor in potential injuries. Matthews played 81 games last season, which was the most he’s played since his rookie season in 2016-17. Matthews has missed a handful of games more often than not in his career. If he misses 10 games this season, then this total starts to seem quite high.
Total Goals by Connor McDavid
- Over 49.5 (1.90)
- Under 49.5 (1.90)
Will McDavid be a 50 goal scorer this year for the second time in his career. McDavid has put up ridiculous point totals every year in his NHL career, so it’s surprising he’s only reached 50+ goals one time (he scored 64 goals in 2022-23). Last season McDavid only scored 32 goals in 76 games. I think this total is pretty accurate, but again you have to factor in a potential injury.
Total Goals by Nathan MacKinnon
- Over 43.5 (1.90)
- Under 43.5 (1.90)
This total seems low for MacKinnon. He scored 51 goals last season, while staying healthy for the entire season (81 games played). The year before he almost hit this mark with 42 goals in just 71 games. Again, this seems like a case of MacKinnon having a great chance to hit the over if he stays healthy, but if he misses a chunk of games then this total becomes quite difficult.
Total Goals by Alexander Ovechkin
- Over 29.5
- Under 29.5
All eyes will be on Alexander Ovechkin this season, to see if he can continue his quest to break Gretzky’s record for most career goals. Ovechkin has 853 goals entering the season, which puts him 41 goals behind Gretzky’s 894 career mark.
Ovechkin scored 31 goals last year while staying healthy (79 games played). He’s now 39 years old, so you have to think the under would be the play in this situation. That said, betting against Ovechkin scoring goals has not been a good play throughout his career.
