The 2016 IIHF World Junior Championships get underway today, and right away we are treated to a very intriguing match-up between Team Canada and Team USA.
Like many other Canadians, each year over the holidays I get myself fully enthralled in the World Junior Tournament and all of the drama that comes with it. It’s always a treat to watch the best young players from around the world compete on the International Stage.
Every year I always get asked plenty of questions from Canadians who are also deep into the tournament where they can place bets on each game. This year I’ve decided to write this post as a quick sort of how-to guide to betting on the World Juniors, so I have a page that I can direct the questions to. So let’s get right into it.

These are basic types of bets. The money line betting is picking the team to win straight up, while you are also able to bet against the spread, over/under on total goals and regulation time. For more on these betting options see our hockey betting page.
World Juniors Futures Odds
You are also able to bet on which team will win the tournament. Here are the current odds from SportsInteraction.com:
- Canada 2.27
- Russia 3.25
- Sweden 7.31
- Czech Republic 10.00
- Finland 10.00
- USA 11.00
- Switzerland 44.00
- Slovakia 65.00
You can find the futures bets by scrolling down the page to the bottom of the IIHF World Championships page at Sports Interaction.
I like Team Canada this year, but there are always a few upsets in the elimination round, so nothing is guaranteed.
I hope this quick tutorial will help you easily place some bets on the World Junior Championships this year. GO CANADA!
