Shaman Ghost is the heavy favourite to win tomorrow night’s Prince of Wales Stakes race at Fort Erie Racetrack after taking the first leg of the Canadian Triple Crown with an exciting win in the 2015 Queen’s Plate. Danish Dynaformer will also be in the field with starting odds just a little bit longer than Shaman Ghost after being caught just before the finish line in the Queen’s Plate race.

It was a very exciting race with a lot of lead changes and I expect more of the same at the Prince of Wales Stakes.

At just 9.5 furlongs in distance, the Prince Of Wales Stakes is slightly shorter than the Queen’s Plate (similar to the Preakness in the USA), with another difference being that it’s run on a dirt track at the Fort Erie Racecourse. We haven’t seen a Queen’s Plate winner follow up with a win in the Prince of Wales Stakes since Wando won the whole Canadian Triple Crown back in 2003. That could change based on the flat out speed possessed by Shaman’s Ghost, but with a very capable field it won’t be easy.

My Pick

As you can see Shaman Ghost and Danish Dynaformer are the two big favourites in this race after their close battle at the Queen’s Plate. I really think either one of these two could win this race, so I’m likely going to be putting my money on whoever has longer odds come race time tomorrow.

Conquest Boogaloo finished 3rd at the Queens Plate and he is the third favourite here as well with 4/1 odds. I’m going to be staying away from Conquest Boogaloo based on the fact that the horse hasn’t won a race in 2015. In fact he hasn’t won in his last 5 starts, which is a big red flag when picking a winner.

Right now I’m leaning towards Danish Dynaformer because I think his odds will be quite a bit longer than Shaman Ghost’s once post time arrives.
